State Rep. Christine Winger (R-Wood Dale) helped her constituents better understand property tax assessments and appeals through an informal seminar that coincided with the recent release of area property tax bills.
“This event gives area residents the necessary information, resources and tools to understand exactly how their property tax bills are calculated,” Winger said. “Property taxes are a top issue for my constituents, and hosting this event at this time is a priority so everyone in the area has access to the right information.”
The event brought together area residents with tax assessors from Bloomingdale, Addison, Wayne and Hanover townships, who explained how they determine a property’s assessed value and answered questions about tax bills. The seminar also offered information about property tax appeals, including the steps homeowners can take to address concerns.

Winger, who hosts property tax seminars on an annual basis, also used the opportunity to address legislative issues concerning property taxes that are being weighed in the General Assembly.
