City of Wood Dale City Council met April 6.
Here is the minutes provided by the Council:
I. Call to Order: Mayor Nunzio Pulice called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
II. Roll Call: Upon roll call the following were:
Present: Aldermen Catalano, Jakab, Messina, Sorrentino, Susmarski, R. Wesley and Woods along with Mayor Pulice
Absent: Alderman E. Wesley
Also Present: Legal Counsel Bond, City Manager Mermuys, City Clerk Siebert and Treasurer Porch
Whereupon the Mayor declared a quorum present.
III. Pledge of Allegiance
IV. Approval of Minutes: City Council Meeting – March 16, 2017 On a motion by Alderman Jakab, seconded by Alderman Woods, to approve the Regular City Council Meeting Minutes of March 16, 2017, as presented. When the question was put, a roll call vote was taken with the following results:
Ayes: Aldermen Catalano, Jakab, Messina, Sorrentino, Susmarski, R. Wesley and Woods
Nays: None
Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried.
V. Communications and Petitions:
A. Citizens to be Heard on Matters not Listed on Agenda
Dave Hasterock, 330 N. Maple Ave, congratulated Aldermen Roy and Eugene Wesley on their re-elections and Officer Larry Brosch for his 29 years with the Wood Dale Police Department, and retiring April 10, 2017.
Julie Miller, 511 W. Potter, questioning the completion of the Potter Street Project. City Manager Mermuys replied that Project has a finish date of no later than June 16, 2017.
Robert Castalano, 253 Forest View, complained about the water that was pushed from Dalewood to Forest View which he contends has flooded his property. He inquired as to what the City is going to do to alleviate this situation. City Manager Mermuys said they are exploring long term solutions and are looking to have a solution by the Spring.
Mark Wilson, 243 Forest View, a neighbor of Mr. Castalano’s, also has flooding in his backyard.
B. Written Communiqués
Mayor Police read letters from:
IPWMAN, Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network, extending gratitude to the City of Wood Dale’s Public Works for their recent response to the towns of Naplate and Ottawa for assistance and much needed aid.
The Frentzos Family, Christy’s Restaurant. Thanking Alderman Eugene Wesley and Alderman Art Woods who took action to get the restaurant back up and running, after a delivery truck knocked down the power lines and damaged the gas meter and side of the building. They remained until late into the evening until the situation was resolved. These Aldermen went above and beyond to make sure Wood Dale businesses are taken care of in the time of need. Many Thanks.
VI. Mayor’s Report:
Flood Brothers: Mayor Pulice announced the roll of the new Flood Brothers refuse and recycling containers.
April 24 and 25, 2017: Republic waste haulers will be picking up their carts after garbage pick-up. Flood Brothers will be delivering new carts, 95 gallon refuse and 65 gallon recycling.
2017/2018 Vehicle Sticker Art Contest Winners Second Runner Up: Isaac Kashif, Third Grader, received a Certificate and $50.00 Gift Card. Isaac had his picture taken with his parents. First Runner Up: Taylor Bullis, Second Grader, was unable to attend, but will receive a Certificate and $50.00 Gift Card.
Winner: Gerald T. Logue, Sixth grader, received a Certificate, framed picture of his drawing and $100.00 Gift Card. Gerald also had his picture taken with his parents.
VII. City Manager’s Report:
Expect some periodical lane closures during the months of April and May due to the median plantings and various clean up around that intersection of Irving Park and Wood Dale Roads. Also IDOT is looking forward to having the long awaited westbound turn lane, when the trains are passing, operating within the next few weeks.
Brush collection resumes on April 11, 2017.
Green Fair at Georgetown Shopping Center will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
VIII. Consent Agenda: The Mayor questioned if there were any objections to the Consent Agenda, hearing none and on a motion by Alderman Jakab, seconded by Alderman Messina to approve Items 1–6. When the question put a Roll Call was taken with the following results:

1. A resolution seeking to approve the list of preferred engineers for the period between May 1, 2017 and April 30, 2020 (R-17-11)
2. Resolution seeking to approve an IGA for the i-390 project between the city of wood dale, the village of Bensenville, the village of Itasca, the Illinois Tollway authority and DuPage county for contract 4638 (R-17-12)
3. A resolution seeking to approve a contract between the City of Wood dale and HR green for construction management for the potter street beautification project in the not-to-exceed amount of $29,797.88 (R-17-13)
4. A resolution seeking to approve a contract between the City of Wood Dale and HR green for TIF district stormwater management in the not-to-exceed amount of $48,677.00. (R-17-14)
5. A resolution seeking to approve a contract between the City of Wood Dale and HR green for the TIF district environmental and wetland services in the not-to- exceed amount of $13,800.00. (R-17-15)
