Batavia ranked 566th in state in lottery ticket sales for July 2016

The City of Batavia had the 566th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of July 2016 -- up 3 spots from its June ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Batavia was $15.86 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Dupage Policy Journal, Batavia generated $420,103 in net sales from its 17 lottery retailers in July 2016, compared to $311,735.50 in July 2015.

The City of Batavia is in DuPage County, and has a population of 26,495, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are West Chicago, North Aurora, Geneva and Aurora.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in July 2016 was $30,607.18.

Batavia's top lottery retailer is The Pride of Batavia located at 200 N Randall Rd, Batavia, IL 60510.

The Pride of Batavia generated 14 percent of Batavia's July 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of DuPage County's sales that month, which was $18,762,205.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DuPage County in 2015 were Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, Villa Park and Addison.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
