Glendale Heights ranked 374th in state in lottery ticket sales for March 2016

The Village of Glendale Heights had the 374th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of March 2016 -- up 40 spots from its February ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Glendale Heights was $22.51 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Dupage Policy Journal, Glendale Heights generated $775,090 in net sales from its 18 lottery retailers in March 2016, compared to $766,998 in March 2015.

The Village of Glendale Heights is in DuPage County, and has a population of 34,435, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Addison, Wheaton, Bloomingdale and Lombard.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in March 2016 was $30,022.46.

Glendale Heights' top lottery retailer is Minuteman located at 67 North Ave, Glendale Heights, IL 60139.

Minuteman generated 24 percent of Glendale Heights' March 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of DuPage County's sales that month, which was $18,463,813.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DuPage County in 2015 were Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, Villa Park and Addison.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
