The city of Naperville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Sept. 27 to grant the Commissioners Award.

The responsibilities of the BFPC are as follows:
To recruit, select and appoint qualified candidates to fill vacancies for original appointment of Police Officer and Firefighter/Paramedic.
To determine testing and selection processes that allow qualified employees to participate in the promotional process for the positions of Lieutenant and Captain in the Fire Department and Sergeant in the Police Department.
To conduct disciplinary hearings or appeals of disciplinary action in the Fire and Police Department.

The meeting was held at 4:00 p.m. in the Mayor’s Conference Room located at 400 S. Eagle Street in Naperville.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairman Kenn Miller and attendance taken by Kathy Mackenzie:

Minutes: A motion was made by Commissioner Benny White to accept the minutes of the September 13, 2016 meeting, seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
Police Department Status Report
Update o Commander Kammerer stated that Deputy Chief Brian Cunningham has accepted the position of Police Chief with Woodridge Police Department.
O The Naperville Police Department is providing the Problem Oriented Policing conference on Wednesday-Friday this week at the Marriot Hotel on Naper Boulevard in conjunction with Aurora University.
Fire Department Status Report
Update o Deputy Chief Sander noted that new Firefighter/Paramedic Katherine Webster has completed the Fire Academy. O Deputy Chief Sander informed the commission that the following specialty teams would be able to attend the FF/PM Testing: Haz-Mat, WRT, Fire Investigations, TEMS.

1. Commissioner's Award - the commissioners reviewed the three nominations received and Charles Gros was selected as the 2016 recipient from the Fire Department. The nominee will receive the award at the CAPS Dinner at Meson Sabika on Thursday, October 20, 2016.
Action Taken
1. A motion was made by Commissioner Benny White to accept the closed session minutes of the September 13, 2016 closed session meeting and retain restriction, seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
Adjournment A motion was made by Commissioner David Blaydes to adjourn the meeting at 4:40 p.m., seconded by Commissioner Benny White. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
