Brian Battle — longtime Wheaton resident, regular forest visitor and business leader — recently accepted a position on the board of directors for DuPage County's Friends of the Forest Preserve District, which is the district’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit support group.

With previous experience on the Wheaton zoning board, Battle currently serves on the advisory board of Misericordia Home Chicago, a home for more than 600 adults and children with developmental disabilities.

Battle has three decades of experience in financial analysis, underwriting and trading.

“Brian will be a tremendous asset to the Friends board,” County Commissioner Tim Whelan said. “He brings enthusiasm and years of knowledge to this position.”

Battle currently acts as director at the Chicago-based Performance Trust Companies. Battle brings practice in liability management, mortgage securities, the municipal marketplace and taxable bonds.

“I am honored to join the board.” Battle said. “I look forward to working with them to benefit the residents and visitors to our beautiful forest preserves.”

Joe Cantore, who serves as president for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, said the board looks forward to Battle’s assistance in furthering its mission.

The Friends board perpetuates the Forest Preserve District’s vision via philanthropic activities. Residents who are interested in contributing can check dupageforest.org/friends for information.

Each year, over 4 million visitors come to explore the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, which has operated for over a century, with 60 preserves, 145 miles of trails and five education centers.
