Pink tops promote breast cancer awareness

Purchasers of custom pink T-shirts designed to raise public perception of breast cancer during October — traditionally designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month — will have a chance to pose for a photo with Lombard firefighters this October.

Members of The Lombard Fire Department and The Lombard Firefighters Union Local 3009 will gather for a group shot with everyone who orders and wears a shirt to the Lombard Fire Station’s open house, slated for 6  to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Fire Station 45, 50 E. St. Charles Road. The “photo op” during the two-hour open house event is slated for 7 p.m.

The custom designed pink T-shirts are now available for purchase for $15 at Fire Station 45, with all proceeds donated to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital’s Cancer Center. Sizes include small through XXL; the final date to order is Thursday, Sept. 1, and the tops will be distributed at the end of September.

Residents with questions may contact Pamm Cooper at cooperp@VillageofLombard.org or call 630-873-4501 for more details.

The event is open to all residents. Guests will enjoy games, get acquainted with Lombard Firefighters, and learn about the importance of working smoke alarms.
