Heidi Holan, the Republican candidate for state representative in Illinois' District 46, showed her support for term limits by putting her name on a pledge to back them.
Holan pointed out her opponent, incumbent state Rep. Deb Conroy (D-Villa Park), and Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) have voted against term limits on more than one occasion.
“People are frustrated with entrenched career politicians who are gaming the system," Holan said. "Elections should serve as natural term limits, but gerrymandered maps make a mockery of the citizen's voice in the voting booth.
Holan said career politicians are not interested in terms limits.
"Springfield legislators could pass term limit legislation in short order, but the majority refuses to do so," she said. "As a member of the General Assembly, I will support term limits. The role of a legislator is to provide a service to the public, not to establish a career.”
Holan is the Illinois state coordinator for ParentalRights.org. She resides in Glen Ellyn, where she home-schools her sons and assists her husband with their family business.
