76.1 percent of Glenbard East High School's 2015 graduating class enrolled in college

Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 76.1 percent of Glenbard East High School's (GEHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.

The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.

For GEHS, its college enrollment rate marks an improvement over 2014, when 71.2 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.

The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.

Enrollment at GEHS in 2015 was 2,431; 668 (27.48 percent) were seniors.

Also according to ISBE, 45.7 percent of GEHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, versus an average of 46 percent statewide.

All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."

Among high schools in DuPage, the class of 2015 college readiness rates at Hinsdale Central High School (87.1 percent), Wheaton North High School (71.3 percent), Glenbard South High School (64.3 percent), Wheaton Warrenville South High School (63.9 percent), Glenbard North High School (55.7 percent) and Westmont High School (56 percent) were all higher than at GEHS. Addison Trail High School (33.3 percent), Fenton High School (40.5 percent), and Woodstock North High School (43.6 percent) were all lower.

GEHS students did better on math (40.6 percent) and English (58.1 percent) and worse on science (35.4 percent) and reading (38.7 percent).

Only 23.5 percent of GEHS students were college ready in all four subjects, according to ISBE.
