DuPage County's new smartphone app aims to keep community connected

Dupage

DuPage County this week launched its Navigate DuPage app for smartphones to help residents stay informed on upcoming local events and news, share their thoughts and be more connected with county government.

“As technology changes our lives, we are striving to give citizens information at their fingertips,” DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin said. “This new app is a convenient way for DuPage residents and visitors to find what they need to know as quickly and easily as possible.”

The app features several useful tools for residents, including directories of county departments, elected officials and other resources. The program also can be used to locate points of interest and find directions, learn about the county’s trail system and even find pets available for adoption. Users also can contact county staff directly through the application’s question form, and a live news feed offers the latest local headlines available.

“Through the creation of this app, we are providing residents a convenient way to access the kind of information they are accustomed to finding online,” County Board Technology Committee Chairman Brian Krajewski said. “Navigate DuPage provides a time-saving shortcut straight to the answers.”

Navigate DuPage is free and available for both Apple and Android devices from the iTunes and Google Play stores, respectively. The app was designed by Constituent Outreach Consultants, a company that has designed similar programs for other Chicago-area municipalities.
