The Wheaton Fine and Cultural Arts Commission began planning for an upcoming presentation on the town's history with abolitionists and the Civil War at a recent meeting.

The commission is planning a live historical performance to coincide with Black History Month in February, possibly at Gary Wheaton Church.

The commission plans to create a PowerPoint presentation to detail the town's history with the movement to abolish slavery, including relevant facts about historical buildings, street names and people. The commission would show the presentation at area schools ahead of the performance. Commission Chairman Mike Bock will help create the PowerPoint presentation.
