At its second annual “A Taste of the States” fundraiser recently in Washington, D.C., the Women in Government (WIG) organization honored State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Dist. 47), naming her a Legislative Champion for the Midwestern Region.
A 16-year veteran of the Illinois House, Bellock is the first woman in the history of her caucus to hold the title of deputy minority leader. Her long tenure as a local leader and her ability to mentor other women were key in her being recognized by WIG.
“Women In Government congratulates Representative Patti Bellock on receiving our Legislative Champion Award,” Dyan Alexander, WIG's executive director, said. “(She) is a recognized leader in Illinois, and we are excited that she continues to share her leadership skills with other women policymakers throughout the country.”
Bellock thanked WIG for the honor.
“I am honored to be recognized as a Legislative Champion by Women In Government,” Bellock said. “Being able to collaborate with women policymakers throughout the country on advancing a positive, pro-growth economic agenda for families is a tremendously rewarding experience. I have brought the collective experience, energy and innovative solutions of these women back here to Illinois to impact my efforts to forge bipartisan agreement on a state budget that reflects the needs and priorities of our most vulnerable families and taxpayers.”
