College of DuPage Board Chairman Kathy Hamilton and her fellow trustees have approved funding of a performance audit by the Illinois Auditor General.
In May, State Representatives Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton), Christine Winger (R- Wood Dale), Ron Sandack (R- Downers Grove), Jim Durkin (R- Burr Ridge), Peter Breen (R- Glen Ellyn) and Patricia Bellock (R-Hinsdale) co-sponsored a bill directing the Auditor General to conduct a COD audit, which will cover 2011-14.
Among other questions, the audit will explore whether the compensation and severance packages provided to the President Robert Breuder are comparable to compensation and severance packages provided to Presidents of other Illinois Community Colleges and whether changes to the College President’s compensation package were properly approved.
In March, before Hamilton and her slate took control of the board, it refused to fund the audit and missed the state deadline to approve the funds, up to $234,000."
