Warrenville accepts plans for Settlers Pointe subdivision

Warrenville

The Warrenville City Council voted 7-1 Sept. 21 to accept a Plan Commission recommendation to rezone the former Musselman property from manufacturing to residential and approve preliminary plans for the proposed Settlers Pointe subdivision.

This residential development is another step forward in meeting key goals and objectives contained in the city’s 2007 Old Town/Civic Center Subarea Plan, 2015 Economic Development Plan and City Resolution 2013-22.

“Higher density housing would remain the best option from an economic development point of view by providing: additional customers for existing businesses, additional population to make the community more attractive for new commercial, retail and restaurant tenants, more housing options for office employees and more diverse housing stock options for the Warrenville community," the city said on its website.

Developer, David Weekley Homes has addressed concerns about stormwater, density, parking, traffic and building height, the city said. David Weekley Homes plans to begin site work in fall and construction on the 34-home project sometime next year.

The developer was able to address the concerns of the community and still offer a high quality product that will attract residents who appreciate the amenities Warrenville and the surrounding area offer, while looking for a modern design to suit their evolving lifestyle, the city said.
