An ordinance creating a process for Woodbridge businesses to apply for one of up to eight video game licenses was approved by the village board Thursday.
In order to apply for the licenses, businesses must have held an existing A-1 or A-3 liquor license for a minimum of 12 months; meet minimum square footage requirements as outlined in the approved ordinance; have a valid Illinois video gaming license; and conduct restaurant services as their primary business, with meals prepared in an on-premise kitchen.
There is $500 registration fee along with an annual $250 fee per video gaming terminal. Also, state and local regulations apply, such as physical monitoring of video gaming areas at all times by an employee over the age of 21.
