Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) on Monday welcomed global technology leader AKHAN Semiconductors Inc. (AKHAN SEMI) to Gurnee, Illinois.
AKHAN is opening up a new facility to expand its diamond conductor production. The company also plans to create and expand community partnerships with the College of Lake County and Argonne National Laboratory.
“AKHAN SEMI represents a great step forward for our district, both in scientific advancement and economic development," Hultgren said. "The innovative and dynamic work being done by AKHAN SEMI will be an incredible asset to our community. I am excited to welcome AKHAN SEMI to an impressive list of advanced manufacturing businesses within the 14th District which will help foster new technologies, commerce and educational opportunities for our residents."
Hultgren praised their work as an example of the power and promise offered by taking discoveries made at Argonne and other national labs and bringing them to the marketplace.
"The incubator partnership with the College of Lake County to develop hands-on training for students pursuing tech careers is just one of the many incredible programs which AKHAN SEMI brings to the 14th (District),” he said.
