Willowbrook, Ill., residents warned of phone scammers

Recently, phone scammers have been calling Willowbrook, Illinois, residents and falsely informing them that they are experiencing computer issues.

The Willowbrook Police Department is asking residents to refuse random phone calls offering services and to contact their Internet provider directly if they believe there is a problem with their service.

Specifically, the scammers are advising residents they are from the homeowner's Internet provider. They then attempt to obtain information from the resident to fix their computers.

The police department reports the scammers are attempting to remotely access the home computers of residents.

The random phone number used by the scammers is 646-612-3456.
