The Village of Lombard, Illinois, was praised during the May 1 Builder Open House for its latest code amendments and outreach efforts.
The open house addressed a number of newly amended code provisions relating to owner and developer issues, such as new regulations to address the latest trends in construction and the adoption of the 2012 International Residential Code.
Keith Steiskal, building official, noted that the code amendments help local builders in standardizing development codes between jurisdictions.
"Lombard should be used as an example for other communities," Director of Architecture of Greenscape Homes Brian Hyde said. "The permit approval and inspection processes are reasonable and are tied together well."
Lombard was also recognized for its reasonable permit review and approval times.
