City of Wood Dale Mayor Nunzio Pulice in April warned residents of Gov. Bruce Rauner's proposal to cut the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF) by 50 percent, saying the city would lose $681,615.
The general fund consists of administration, clerk's office, finance, community development, police and public works administration, streets and vehicle maintenance departments. "All of these departments would be impacted by this reduction," Pulice said.
The city's goal, Pulice said, is to maintain the same level of service, while increasing services and decreasing costs to residents.
"For the city to deal with this loss of revenue, a reduction in services and higher taxes/fees would be necessary, which is something that the city does not want to see happen," he said.
Pulice asks residents to contact their state legislators to express their opposition to LGDF cuts.
