Durkin named Outstanding Legislator of the Year by IAPD
The Illinois Association of Park Districts recently presented state Rep. Jim Durkin (R-82nd) with its Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award at the association's annual conference at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.
"Representative Durkin was honored by the Illinois Association of Park Districts for his tremendous support in advancing parks and recreational opportunities throughout Illinois," IAPD President and CEO Peter Murphy said. "He understands and recognizes the important role park districts, forest preserves, conservation and recreation agencies have in the lives of Illinois citizens."
Durkin is considered an advocate for grant funding for park districts and recreation agencies.
The awards luncheon was attended by approximately 1,700 recreation professionals and elected officials.
