By Mark Reccek | Jan 29, 2015

Leadership

NEW Leadership Illinois is now accepting applications for its 2015 bipartisan program that aims to educate and empower future female leaders.

Co-sponsored by the Conference of Women Legislators of the Illinois General Assembly and the University of Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs, this year's program will be held in Chicago from June 1-5.

Those accepted into the program will receive an education on leadership issues, hands-on public policy training the opportunity to network with various levels of government.

Approximately 20 participants will be admitted to the weeklong residential program, with all expenses paid for by the program sponsors.

Female students from all backgrounds and majors are encouraged to apply. They must attend a college or university in Illinois, or be an Illinois resident. Also, the student must be a junior, senior or college graduate as of June.

The application deadline is March 2.

The program's goals include challenging the state's brightest students to analytically and creatively look at public policy issues, and pursue leadership opportunities in the public sector early in their careers.

More information on the program can be found at http://igpa.uillinois.edu/content/new-leadership-illinois.
