Ocampo earns CCIW weekly honor after runner-up finish at Carthage Classic
Jasmin Ocampo, a freshman at Carthage College, has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in women’s wrestling. The announcement was made on Tuesday following her performance at the Carthage Classic held last Sunday.
Competing in the 207-pound weight class, Ocampo advanced to the finals after securing three consecutive wins by fall. She began with a pin against Mackenzie Conklin from North Central, followed by victories over Aubrey Miller-Ramirez of Lakeland and Tayla Phillips of Eureka. In the championship match, Ocampo narrowly lost 2-1 to Kate Riege from Wisconsin–Stevens Point, finishing as runner-up in her division.
Ocampo’s results contributed to Carthage placing fourth overall at their home tournament.
She is the latest recipient of the CCIW Women’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week award for the 2025-26 season. Previous honorees include Shenita Lawson (North Central), Moni Griffin (Augustana), Viola Pianetto (Elmhurst), and Riley Rayome (North Central).
