Lombard ties with 3 cities for 4th place in Illinois scam reports in June

Lombard tied with three other cities for fourth place among 237 Illinois cities that had at least one BBB Scam Tracker report in June 2026, recording seven scam reports, according to Better Business Bureau.

That was up from two reports in the previous month.

Three reports that listed dollar amounts accounted for reported losses totaling $288.20. The most common scam type was online purchase, which made up five of the reports.

The largest reported loss for the month was $150 in an online purchase scam: Purchased rocker panels for a 2008 Dodge Charger on May 5, 2026. Invoice # ACP12893 for the amount of $150. Never received items. Contacted seller about item on June 1, 2026 and they said it was on the way but item never came.

BBB Scam Tracker allows consumers to search reported scams and share their experiences to help others recognize similar schemes. The BBB says it reviews each report before publication and does not publicly display the reporter’s name or personal contact information.

Fraud reports have continued to involve large financial losses nationwide. The Federal Trade Commission said consumers reported losing more than $12.5 billion to fraud in 2024, a 25% increase from the previous year.
