Jackson Middle School eighth graders celebrate promotion at Willowbrook High School
Eighth grade students from Jackson Middle School celebrated their promotion on May 20 at a ceremony held at Willowbrook High School.
Jackson Principal Jill Amrhein addressed the students in a message, saying, “As you head into summer, take time to enjoy some well-earned rest, relax with family and friends, and do your teachers a favor by reading a few good books. Keep your minds sharp as you prepare to begin this exciting next chapter. We have had the privilege of walking alongside you and learning from you over the past three years. … Carry your Jaguar pride with you, and show the world all that you are capable of achieving.”
The Villa Park School District 45 represents DuPage County and includes Ardmore Elementary School, Jackson Middle School, Jefferson Middle School, North Elementary School, Schafer Elementary School, Stevenson School, Westmore Elementary School, and York Center Elementary School,according to the Illinois State Board of Education. The district enrolled 3,306 students in the 2019-2020 school year as an elementary school district serving grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in Villa Park and DuPage County.
Villa Park School District 45 is comprised of 43.4 percent White students, 7.8 percent Black students, 35.4 percent Hispanic students, and 8.2 percent Asian students, according to the Illinois State Board of Education. The district has 224 total teachers earning an average salary of $74,159 before their taxpayer-funded pension contribution; among them are 82.8 percent women and 17.2 percent men. There are no teachers with more than ten absences in a school year.
In terms of spending and attendance data for Villa Park District 45,the Illinois State Board of Education reports that it spent $23,216 per student in 2020 for a total expenditure of $76,753,683 during that year; there were also 119 chronically truant students enrolled during the same period—a chronic truancy rate of 3.6 percent—compared to a statewide average rate of 9.6 percent.
