Illinois Wesleyan and Carroll rise in national women’s basketball rankings

Illinois Wesleyan University maintained its position at No. 13 in the latest D3hoops.com national rankings, while Carroll University advanced two spots to No. 14, according to the poll released on Monday. The difference between the two teams in the ranking was 62 points.

Illinois Wesleyan has an overall record of 6-2 and is undefeated in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play with a 2-0 mark after winning both of its opening week league games. The team has achieved four consecutive victories since November 29 and earned 306 points in the D3hoops.com poll.

Carroll University extended its win streak to five games by defeating Wheaton and Carthage last week. With an overall record of 7-2, Carroll shares first place in the early CCIW standings with Illinois Wesleyan and Elmhurst, all holding a conference record of 2-0. Carroll received 244 points in Monday’s poll.

Both programs also appeared in Tuesday’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) rankings. Illinois Wesleyan moved up four positions to reach No. 16, while Carroll rose three spots to claim No. 22.
