Illinois Wesleyan and Carroll maintain top spots in D3hoops.com national basketball rankings
Illinois Wesleyan University and Carroll University have maintained their national rankings in the latest D3hoops.com poll, according to information released on Monday. Illinois Wesleyan remains at No. 13, while Carroll holds the No. 14 spot.
In the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) rankings announced Tuesday, both teams advanced by one position. Illinois Wesleyan is now ranked No. 15, and Carroll stands at No. 21.
Illinois Wesleyan, with a record of 7-2 overall and 3-0 in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play, secured its fifth consecutive win last Saturday by defeating Elmhurst 81-59. The Titans are currently the only team to have won three conference games this season and remain unbeaten in league play alongside Carroll.
Carroll, also holding a 7-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in conference competition, is on a scheduled break from games for twelve days. The Pioneers will return to action against WPI on Friday at 7 p.m. Central Time during the Daytona Beach Shootout in Daytona Beach, Florida. They are also set to face seventh-ranked Washington & Lee on Sunday at 1 p.m., also in Daytona.
"IWU is now No. 15, while the Pios are No. 21," according to the WBCA rankings release.
