DuPage County officials report 544 coronavirus deaths, with 15,826 confirmed cases
There have been 15,826 confirmed coronavirus cases in DuPage County as of September 11, with 544 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Chicago (74,566 cases) and Cook County (59,120 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago's death toll from the virus stands at 2,903, while Cook County recorded 2,209 deaths, according to the IDPH.
Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 4,632,382, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was 20 to 29, with 51,563 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.
Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 120,779 were male and 131,954 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 4,458, while female deaths stood at 3,815.
Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 3,855 Asians, 3,855 whites, 2,172 African-Americans, 1,664 Hispanics, and 208 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
