DuPage County officials report 527 coronavirus deaths, with 13,289 confirmed cases
There have been 13,289 confirmed coronavirus cases in DuPage County as of August 19, with 527 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Chicago (67,110 cases) and Cook County (50,902 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago's death toll from the virus stands at 2,836, while Cook County recorded 2,148 deaths, according to the IDPH.
Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 3,489,571, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was 20 to 29, with 40,357 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.
Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 99,199 were male and 108,737 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 4,213, while female deaths stood at 3,588.
Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 3,529 Asians, 3,529 whites, 2,106 African-Americans, 1,600 Hispanics, and 204 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
