D181 celebrates Staff Appreciation Week with community support and recognition

Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 marked Staff Appreciation Week with a series of events and gestures of gratitude, according to a May 11 announcement from the district. The celebrations included activities organized by nine Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) to thank all members of the D181 staff.

The week aimed to recognize the efforts of every employee in the district, including teaching staff, clerical teams, transportation workers, substitutes, lunchroom staff, and school nurses. Organizers said that appreciation was shown through flowers, food, car washes, massages, take-home charcuterie boards, stocked staff lounges, and thank you notes from students and families.

"The recent Staff Appreciation Week celebrations were a resounding success, serving as a powerful testament to the deep gratitude felt for every dedicated member of the D181 team. We want to extend our most heartfelt thanks to our nine incredible PTOs for organizing truly exceptional events last week," said district officials in their statement. "Crucially, the celebration included every single member of the D181 family. The appreciation extended across the entire district—from certified teaching staff and clerical teams to our transportation team, substitutes, lunchroom staff, and school nurses." Officials also said: "D181 is an incredible place to learn, and that is fundamentally thanks to our amazing staff. Thank you once again to all the PTO committees for their tireless efforts in making our entire team feel so profoundly adored and special."

The Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 serves DuPage and Cook counties with schools including Clarendon Hills Middle School; Elm Elementary School; Hinsdale Middle School; Madison Elementary School; Monroe Elementary School; Oak Elementary School; Prospect Elementary School; The Lane Elementary School; and Walker School,according to Illinois Report Card. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, there are 282 teachers in District 181 earning an average salary of $94,227 before pension contributions—90 percent are women—and none had more than ten absences during a school year.

District data show that it enrolled 3,743 students during the 2019-2020 school year as an elementary school district serving pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade students located in Clarendon Hills within DuPage County,according to Illinois Report Card. The student body is composed of approximately 69.8 percent White students while other groups include Black (1.1 percent), Hispanic (6.8 percent), and Asian (15.4 percent) populations.According to Illinois Report Card reports.

In terms of spending per student for fiscal year 2020—District 181 spent $31,308 per student totaling $117 million overall.According to Illinois Report Card.
