Cost of college went up for all students at Elmhurst College

Tuition and fees rose 2.5 percent for 2017-18 at Elmhurst College, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $36,370 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $870 more than the $35,500 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 99 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 471 students received grants or scholarships totaling $11.41 million and 446 students took out student loans totaling more than $3 million.

Including all undergraduates, 2,659 students used grants or scholarships totaling $56.66 million. Another 2,283 took out $16.75 million in federal student loans.
