With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Republican Michael Connelly and Democrat Laura Ellman were tied in the race for the Illinois Senate District 21 seat. 

Both candidates held 50 percent of the vote, with Connelly clocking in with 47,476 vote overall and Ellman garnering 47,464 votes.
