Oak Brook responsible for 26th-highest sales tax revenue per municipality in Illinois during 2022

Oak Brook taxpayers paid the 26th largest sum in sales taxes in 2022, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Oak Brook residents paid $25.3 million in sales taxes during 2022.

Oak Brook ranked 32nd in the Prairie State the year before, with $21.4 million spent in sales taxes.

The Municipal Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Oak Brook residents in 2022.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
