October 27, 2022 - Yesterday, Sean Casten boasted on his social media channels about his endorsements from state teacher unions.

These endorsements come against the backdrop of the release of Illinois State Board of Education’s School Report card, which reveals that Illinois’ 2021 student test scores collapsed as a result of the school shutdowns and COVID mitigations that teachers unions lobbied for relentlessly over the past 3 years.

Orland ParkMayor Keith Pekau, candidate for Congress (IL-06), said in response, “What is wrong with Sean Casten? I am not sure how much more out-of-touch he can get: Boasting about endorsements from the organizations that fought against parents and families for two years leading to the most dire learning loss we’ve seen in generations; calling the SAFE-T Act “necessary criminal justice reform” and those who oppose it “racists”; claiming inflation was at 0% when it reached as high as 9.1%;  campaigning against me on positions that aren’t even remotely close to any I have ever taken; and continuing to push subsidies that benefit his family’s business, even after being exposed for it.

“Either Sean Casten thinks the people of IL-06 are completely stupid and will just believe anything he says, or his finger is no longer on the pulse of the voters he seeks to represent. In either case, Illinois and the 6th District deserve much better. I think we will all see on November 8, that voters are no longer buying what Sean Casten is selling.”
