Lombard educates residents on process of starting a retail business

Lombard

In order to educate Lombard residents about the process of opening a retail establishment in the area, the village’s Community Development Department recently introduced an online tutorial program to increase Lombard’s role in attracting and retaining businesses.

“Recently, with so many new businesses opening here in Lombard, people are curious about what’s going on behind the scenes,” Jennifer Ganser, Lombard assistant director of Community Development, said. “From the sidewalk, it can be hard to tell what’s going on when a business is under construction.”

The five-part educational series is entitled "From Ground Breaking to Grand Opening: Retail in Lombard." The tutorial features a number of information-filled pages that outline retail site location, zoning issues and costs, assistance offered by the village government and other important factors related to business retention.

“We’re happy to be able to provide this useful information to anyone interested in learning more about new businesses in Lombard and [our] role,” Ganser added. “Any time we can answer questions for our residents, we’re glad to do so.”

More information regarding the educational series can be found online at villageoflombard.org/retail.
