Overnight closures set for Roselle this weekend on I-390.
Overnight, full-roadway closures with detours are scheduled this weekend on I-390 (former Elgin-O'Hare Expressway) between Roselle and Meacham roads, in Roselle.
The closures will occur overnight Aug. 22 and 23. The closures are necessary for work to begin on the installation of toll collection equipment as part of the Tollway’s Elgin O’Hare Western Access Project.
Electronic message signs and detour signage will be installed to alert drivers in advance of the closures and detours.
All lanes are scheduled to reopen by 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24.
The over-the-road steel tolling gantries and toll collection equipment are being installed this year to accommodate testing and ensure that toll collection can begin within the first segment from Lake St. (U.S. Route 20) to I-290 in the summer of 2016. The all-electronic gantries are located west of Meacham Road/Medinah Road, west of Roselle Road and west of Gary Ave.
A sign stating "No Tolls Taken" is posted on the gantries until the toll collection begins in 2016.
