Bloomingdale named a top power suburb by SelfStorage.com
SelfStorage.com recently named Bloomingdale as one of America's Top Twelve Power Suburbs.
The website ranked Bloomingdale 10th out of 12 suburbs across America. Bloomingdale ranked higher than Hilliard, Ohio, and Mint Hill, N.C. Clarksville, Ind., ranked first.
The ranking looked at changes in data in five areas from 2010-13 including population, per-capita income, percentage of families grossing $75,000 or more annually, unemployment rate and the percentage of people below the poverty line.
Increases in population, per-capita income and income greater than $75,000 attributed to Bloomingdale's increased ranking. Increases in the unemployment rate and the percentage of people living in poverty reduced Bloomingdale's ranking.
Bloomingdale's population jumped 1.5 percent to 22,269.
Per-capita income grew 1.4 percent to $36,661. Families with incomes of $75,000 or more represent 62.8 percent of the population. This equates an 18.9 percent change in income.
Those living below the poverty line in Bloomingdale represent 4.5 percent of the population, amounting to a 4.8 percent decrease.
The unemployment rate also dropped 52.2 percent, to 3.3 percent.
