Wheaton College goalkeeper Jack Krahel has been named to the First Team Academic All-America in Division III men’s soccer by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The announcement follows a season in which Krahel received multiple honors, including being named CCIW Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year and earning First Team All-Region recognition from United Soccer Coaches.
Krahel is the only graduate student in Division III men’s soccer to receive Academic All-America recognition this year. He is also the sole representative from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) on the 2025 Academic All-America teams.
The Academic All-America program, run by CSC, recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. Selection criteria include being a varsity starter or key reserve, maintaining at least a 3.50 GPA, and having reached sophomore standing. According to CSC, “Individuals are selected through voting by College Sports Communicators – a 2,000-plus member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.” Since its inception in 1952, more than 15,000 student-athletes have been honored across all NCAA divisions.
Wheaton athletes have now earned 121 Academic All-America selections since 1973. This continues Wheaton’s record of having at least one student-athlete recognized every academic year since 1998-99. Krahel becomes the tenth men’s soccer player from Wheaton to be named an Academic All-American and is the first from his team to achieve First Team status since Stephen Golz in 2014.
Krahel completed his undergraduate degree in business economics with a cumulative GPA of 3.94 and is currently enrolled in Wheaton’s Sports Leadership Master’s program. On the field this season, he led CCIW goalkeepers with an 89% save rate during conference play and posted seven shutouts overall—the highest mark in the league this year. He was on the field for every minute of Wheaton’s 18 games during the season.
Notably, Krahel made ten saves against Millikin University on Senior Night—setting a team single-game high since 2021—and stopped a penalty kick during the conference tournament semifinals against North Park. He was also named CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week three times consecutively in October, marking him as the first men’s soccer player in conference history to earn that distinction three weeks running.
