North Central and North Park reach CCIW men’s soccer semifinals after close victories

North Central and North Park have advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Soccer Championship. The teams secured their spots after winning quarterfinal matches on Saturday.

In Naperville, North Central defeated Carthage 1-0 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Joseph Sargent scored in the 27th minute, marking his 14th goal of the season with an assist from Griffin French. Both teams registered nine shots each, but Carthage held a slight edge in shots on goal with four compared to North Central's three. North Central goalkeeper Vincent Stanislao saved all four attempts for a shutout, while Carthage’s Aaron The recorded two saves.

North Park overcame Carroll 1-0 in overtime at the Holmgren Athletic Complex in Chicago. Despite dominating possession and outshooting Carroll 24-6 during regulation, North Park was unable to score against Carroll goalkeeper Uriel Garcia until extra time.
