NAPERVILLE — Lucas Rettig from Augustana College and Taydin Murphy from Carthage College have been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athletes of the Week.

Rettig contributed to Augustana's success in two recent meets. On October 11 against Loras, he won the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.59 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 51.46 seconds. He also helped secure victories in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. In competition against Colorado College and Grinnell College on Friday and Saturday, Rettig placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.60 seconds, swam a split of 50.99 in the 100 fly during the 400 medley relay, and contributed to a second-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Murphy began his season for Carthage with new dives on the three-meter board, earning first place versus Wisconsin-Whitewater with a six-dive score of 216.90 points. On the one-meter board, he scored 209.10 points. At the Wisconsin Showcase held the following day, Murphy improved his scores to 232.38 on three-meter and posted a personal best of 234.68 on one-meter.

"Rettig powered the Vikings with multiple event wins and relay contributions across two meets, while Murphy opened his season with standout performances and personal bests on both the 1- and 3-meter boards," according to Wednesday's announcement by CCIW.
