Alexandra Pugachova of North Park University has been named the Women’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). The announcement was made Wednesday.
Pugachova, a sophomore, achieved two wins in a recent dual match against Wheaton. She partnered with Thea Gifvars to secure a 7-6 doubles victory over Janet Kondo and Ella Malone. Later in singles play, she defeated Madeline Gentry at the top spot with scores of 6-1, 6-2.
The weekly honor is part of CCIW’s ongoing recognition for outstanding performances in women’s tennis during the 2025-26 season. Previous recipients this season include Jessica Dudas from North Park, Abigail Penados from North Central, Natasa Pupovac from Carroll, Xingchen Liu from Carthage, Madeline Gentry from Wheaton, Maddy Harned from Augustana, and Pugachova herself on September 3.
