Illinois Wesleyan has been selected as the favorite to win the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Golf Championship, according to the annual pre-championship coaches’ poll released by the league office. The Titans received eight first-place votes and a total of 64 points in the poll.
The CCIW Women’s Golf Championship will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. at Metamora Fields Golf Club in Metamora, Illinois. This marks the third consecutive year that Metamora Fields is hosting the event, which is celebrating its 30th edition.
Illinois Wesleyan has won the last three CCIW titles since 2022 and has claimed eight out of ten conference championships since 2015. Head coach Craig Onsrud commented on his team’s approach: "We're just playing the golf course," Onsrud said. "What happens at the finish happens at the finish. Not putting too much pressure on what the event means ... (and) just try to keep (the players) as loose as they possibly can. Don't let the moment get to them."
Senior Brooke Erhard added, "I think our mentality heading into next Monday is just trusting the process. We've all just worked super hard. Just moving forward and having faith in our abilities and confidence, I think is definitely going to be really important."
Carthage was picked second in the poll with one first-place vote and 53 points, followed by Augustana with 46 points. North Central and Millikin rounded out the top five with 41 and 36 points respectively. Elmhurst, Carroll, Wheaton, and North Park completed the list.
The championship will consist of three rounds totaling 54 holes.
