Illinois Wesleyan University’s volleyball team is ranked eighth in the latest TARAFLEX/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll, as announced Tuesday. The Titans earned 1,485 points and moved down one position from the previous week.
Currently holding a 13-1 record, Illinois Wesleyan split two matches against nationally ranked teams last Saturday in Holland, Michigan. The Titans defeated Marietta, which was ranked 14th, in straight sets but lost in four sets to Hope, ranked 18th. These results followed a three-set victory over Elmhurst during a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) match at the Shirk Center last Wednesday.
La Verne remains at the top of the poll, with East Texas Baptist, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and Wisconsin-Whitewater rounding out the top four unchanged from the previous ranking.
Other CCIW teams also received recognition in the new rankings: Carthage received 21 points and North Park collected nine points.
