Illinois Wesleyan’s Taylor French and Millikin University’s Alyssa Frederking and Kyra Carothers have been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week. French led the undefeated Titans with a strong offensive showing, while Frederking played a key role in Millikin’s offense and Carothers contributed significantly on defense during three consecutive victories.
Taylor French averaged 5.46 points and 4.77 kills per set over four wins for Illinois Wesleyan, totaling 62 kills with a .402 attack percentage. She also contributed 37 digs, eight aces, two blocks, and two assists during the week. French was named MVP of the IWU Tournament II after helping her team to three wins. In the CCIW opener against Wheaton, she recorded 11 kills on a .348 hitting percentage, nine digs, and two aces in a sweep. She had at least 15 kills in each of the three weekend matches and posted a double-double against Coe with 13 digs.
Alyssa Frederking, a junior from Belleville, Illinois, helped Millikin extend its winning streak to four by averaging 7.17 assists and 2.33 digs across 12 sets in victories over Alma, Case Western Reserve, and Ohio Northern. On Saturday against Case Western Reserve, Frederking registered her second double-double of the season with 27 assists and 10 digs, then added another double-double later that day against Ohio Northern with 33 assists and 12 digs.
Kyra Carothers’ defensive performance was highlighted by eight blocks in Millikin’s win over Ohio Northern. Over the weekend she averaged 1.25 blocks per set, adding two blocks against Alma and five versus Case Western Reserve. Offensively, Carothers also tallied 23 kills and five aces for Millikin.
