Wheaton College senior Madeline Gentry has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in women’s tennis. The announcement was made Wednesday morning.
Gentry, who is from Hudson, Illinois, kept her singles record perfect at 5-0 for the 2025 season. She played from the top spot in Wheaton’s lineup and secured victories during league duals against Carroll University on Friday and Carthage College on Saturday. Against Carroll’s Natasa Pupovac, Gentry won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. She followed with a close win over Xingchen Liu of Carthage, taking the match 7-6 (14-12), 6-3.
In doubles action, Gentry partnered with Tatum Thurstone to defeat Pupovac and Katherine Trifilio of Carroll by a score of 6-0.
The CCIW also recognized other weekly honorees this month: Maddy Harned from Augustana was named Student-Athlete of the Week on September 10, and Alexandra Pugachova from North Park received the honor on September 3.
