North Park University’s Vidar Rydell has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week. North Central’s Griffin French and Wheaton’s Andrew Heeringa have been selected as Co-Defensive Student-Athletes of the Week, following recent performances in men’s soccer.

Rydell scored two goals in North Park’s 3-1 win over Trine last Monday. He also provided an assist during a 2-0 victory against MSOE last Wednesday, totaling five points for the week. The senior midfielder from Varberg, Sweden, attempted four shots in Monday's match, with two on target, and played 81 minutes against MSOE. Rydell currently leads North Park this season with three assists and seven points.

French contributed both goals for North Central in a 2-0 win over Illinois Tech, who is ranked 23rd nationally. The freshman helped limit Illinois Tech to eight shot attempts, with only one on goal.

Heeringa assisted on both goals in Wheaton’s 2-1 win over Dubuque after helping secure a scoreless draw against Chicago earlier in the week. The senior from Grandville, Michigan was instrumental in keeping Chicago off the scoreboard.

The CCIW also listed previous weekly honorees: Mathias Soerum (North Park) and Luke Vander Kolk (Wheaton) for offensive honors; Christian Smith (Millikin) and Kevin Perez (North Park) for defensive recognition.
