Dan Proft, co-host of AM 560 The Answer, said that voters should not be surprised by Zohran Mamdani's victory in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary. He attributed this outcome to the influence of identitarian socialism within the Democratic Party.

"The surprise of Zohran Mamdani winning the NYC Dem mayoral primary is that there is such surprise," said Proft, Radio host, activist, political commentator. "For the perplexed, have you not heard about the recent results of other mayoral contests in major metros? Brandon Johnson, Karen Bass, Brandon Scott, Jacob Frey, Michelle Wu, Mike Johnston--this is but a partial list and doesn't even get into the victors for DA offices or legislative seats (local, state, federal) in these jurisdictions. Identitarian socialism is the governing philosophy of the current iteration of the Democrat Party which is, thus, a NeoMarxist Party."

Zohran Mamdani, a member of the New York State Assembly, was born in Uganda and raised in New York City. He has been actively involved in advocacy efforts, including participating in hunger strikes with taxi drivers for debt relief and helping secure significant funding for public transit improvements. According to his campaign website, Mamdani aims to reduce rent, enhance public transit, and support families if elected mayor.

Proft commented on social media platform X about the political dynamics in major cities. He described them as vulnerable due to economic disparities and criticized certain political figures like Andrew Cuomo and Paul Vallas for their perceived ineffectiveness.

According to a June 25 report by the Associated Press, Mamdani received 432,305 votes in the 2025 New York City Democratic Primary. His closest competitor was Andrew Cuomo with 351,840 votes, followed by Brad Lander with 112,349 votes.

Proft is known as the co-host of "Chicago’s Morning Answer" on AM 560 Chicago. He is a former Republican candidate for Illinois governor and holds degrees from Northwestern University and Loyola University-Chicago.
