Dan Proft, co-host of AM 560 The Answer, said that Lake County residents and officials should prioritize the family of Megan Bos, a murdered woman. He further commented on Illinois' status under Governor J.B. Pritzker as a "sanctuary state for violent criminals."
"lllinois is a sanctuary state for violent criminals, imported and domestic, under Pritzker & Co," said Proft, Radio host, political commentator and activist. "Maybe Lake County residents--Rep, Dem or Ind--fixated in one direction or another on all things Trump should refocus their gaze to their collective backyard and rally around the Bos family. Honestly, WTF does it take to confront choices Lake County residents have made like Eric Rinehart, et al.? I really would like to know."
The family of Megan Bos has voiced opposition to the SAFE-T Act following the discovery of her body in a storage container on Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez’s property in April. According to an NBC5 report, Mendoza-Gonzalez was released pending trial. Bos had been missing since February before her body was found. Mendoza-Gonzalez reportedly told police that she ingested drugs at his home and that he initially concealed her body in his basement before moving it to the storage container. He faces charges permitting pretrial release under the SAFE-T Act, with his court appearance expected in August and trial scheduled for November 10.

According to Illinois Policy, the SAFE-T Act allows detention for violent offenses or those involving threats of violence. However, Class A misdemeanors like simple battery or theft may result in release without a pretrial hearing, requiring individuals to appear in court within 21 days. Detainable offenses include attempted first-degree murder, criminal sexual assault, armed robbery, stalking, domestic abuse and battery, unlawful firearm purchase, arson, and second-degree murder. Non-detainable offenses encompass traffic violations and Class A, B, or C misdemeanors.
Patch reports that Bos’ body was discovered on April 10; however, the official cause of death remains undetermined by the Lake County coroner’s office. An autopsy was conducted immediately after discovery but toxicology results were pending as of May 15. Some results have been sent to the pathologist handling the case who has ordered additional tests without specifying a timeline.
