The deadline to pass a state budget is approaching, with only nine scheduled session days remaining before the May 31 adjournment date. Despite this, there has been no budget proposal from Democrat colleagues, according to recent statements.

Adding to the challenge, the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget recently reduced revenue projections for Fiscal Year 2026 by over $500 million. This development has prompted House Republicans to emphasize their commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline.

In response to these circumstances, House Republicans have made it clear that they will not negotiate a budget that includes any tax increases.
