Sean Casten announces art competition and new legislation against gun violence

Rep. Sean Casten, representing Illinois’ 6th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has shared several updates on social media highlighting his recent initiatives and engagements. These posts cover a range of topics from arts to legislative actions and industry visits.

On March 19, 2025, Rep. Casten announced the opening of submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. He encouraged students in grades 9-12 to submit their original artwork for an opportunity to have it displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
