More than 33,000 witness slips have been filed opposing HB 2827, the Homeschool Act, which proposes new mandates on homeschool families in Illinois. The bill is set for a hearing in the Education Policy Committee on March 19 at the Illinois State Capitol.

An update was issued on March 18 at 2:37 PM stating that an amendment has been added to the Homeschool Act (HB 2827) ahead of the committee hearing scheduled for 8:00 AM. Nearly 35,000 witness slips were filed against the original bill. Advocates are encouraged to file a witness slip opposing this new amendment, House Committee Amendment 001, to protect homeschool freedom in Illinois.
